Philip Snow Gang, Core Faculty and Cofounder of TIES
Dr. Gang is Academic Dean for the Master of Education (M.Ed.) program and author of Rethinking Education and Conscious Education: The Bridge To Freedom. He is the developer of Our Planet, Our Home, a hands-on mobile map material for exploring relationships on Earth. He also appears in Russell DeCarlo’s anthology, Towards a New World View: Conversations at the Leading Edge.
The May 2015 issue of About Place Journal contains Gang’s narrative:

Dr. Gang has been a Montessori school head, consultant and educator of teachers. In 1978 he helped initiate the National Erdkinder Consortium – a group dedicated to founding Montessori secondary schools. He was the organizer of two International Montessori Study Conferences: one titled, Adolescence and Exploration (1981) and the other Education and Peace (1985). He had close ties with Mario Montessori Sr. and Mario Jr, who served on his doctoral committee.
In 1990 he became Executive Director for the Global Alliance for Transforming Education, a world-wide effort to define and promote the principles of holism.
In the early ’90s Gang was on the faculty of California Institute of Integral Studies as a professor-mentor to students engaged in doctoral studies in the School of Transformative Learning. This was the first collaborative on-line program of its kind.
Reflecting on the issues of the 21st century, Gang’s major interest now is exploring the question: In what ways might education respond to the Montessori’s call for the evolution of the New Human and Thomas Berry’s advocacy for a New Earth Community.
His response to this is an ongoing legacy tour – a symposium titled,
Cosmos, Gaia and Spirit: Inner Leadership for the Rise of a New Earth Community.

Marsha Snow Morgan, Core Faculty and Cofounder of TIES
Professor Morgan has worked as a Montessori teacher, school director, educator of Montessori teachers, consultant, and workshop leader. These initiatives have taken her through Europe, South America, North America and the Pacific Rim. In New Zealand she is on the Organic Cities Trust at Christchurch and a principal to the Kids Edible Garden Project – a program to place permaculture gardens in government school. She is the 1989 founder of Nova Montessori School, also in Christchurch.
As a graduate of the 1970-1971 AMI Elementary Course of Study at Bergamo, Italy, Maria Montessori’s son, Mario Montesori, was Course Director and lectured extensively on the subject of ecology. This was his last year of primary involvement.
The main focus of her work is perceiving systemic patterns in the design and creation of learning communities. She explains “We are storytellers, mythmakers and symbol designers. Addressing the present planetary crises through Montessori education may provide new possibilities for Gaian renewal.” Her graduate thesis was titled: “An Ecogenesis for Education: A Context for Learning.”
Philip and Marsha are also the creators of EarthTies, a virtual web-conferencing network promoting The Great Work.
Marsha Snow Morgan, MA
Throughout the Endicott-TIES M.Ed. in Montessori Integrative Learning students are exposed to creative thinkers that include: authors of the required books, specialists in the field, and graduates of the program. These people have experiences that provide in depth insights and extended learning.
John Fowler, Ph.D.
John received his PhD in Transformative Learning from the California Institute for Integral Studies. He has enjoyed being a Montessori elementary director for 35 years and is the creator of the Timeline of Light, is a Montessori and Big History consultant. John has spoken at international Montessori, holistic, Big History, and environmental conferences. He has had articles appearing in Montessori, environmental and Big History publications, and been listed in Who’s Who in North American Education. After 17 years with the TIES faculty, he says that he “loves the deep, rich and unique approach that it embodies.”
Kathryn Ross, M.Ed.
Kathryn has been involved in Montessori education since 1974. She Co-founded of Mt. Sopris Montessori School in Carbondale, CO in 1982 and has been an instructor at the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies (MECR) since the 1980s. She recently retired from Head of School at Children’s Garden Montessori School in Denver, CO. In 2009 she received the AMS Best Master’s thesis award for her Endicott-TIES M.Ed.in Montessori integrative Learning: Montessori and Reggio Together: Exploring Possibilities. She is a Master Gardener and current President of the Colorado Montessori Association..
Julie Haagenson M.Ed.
Julie has worked with adolescents since 1999 and is the former co-director of Rio Rapido Program for troubled teens in Costa Rica. In 2009 she undertook her Montessori secondary training with Houston Montessori Center and jointly enrolled in the Endicott-TIES M.ed. Her graduating thesis was titled “Mutual Transformation in the Montessori Secondary Classroom.” She is also the mother of twins, is fluent in Spanish, a jewelry designer and part time disc jockey.
Steven Arnold, M.Ed.
University lecturer in Montessori and Primary education at AUT, Auckland, New Zealand. AMI Montessori Diplomas for 3-6 and 6-12; AMS Secondary Certificate for 12-18. His Master’s Culminating Project was titled “Loving School: Evolving from Microphase to Macrophase Wisdom”.
Recently completed: Travelling around the world in PEACE BOAT as a volunteer English teacher – 22 countries in 106 days on a floating University.
Enid Larsen, Ph.D.
Assistant Dean of Academic Programs at the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, Endicott College.
John Briggs, Ph.D.
Co-author of HarperCollins’ The Seven Life Lessons of Chaos, 1999 and English Professor at Western Connecticut State University
Lauren de Boer, M.A.
He is the former editor and executive director of EarthLight Magazine (1995-2005), a publication that explored the intersection of ecology, cosmology, consciousness, and spirituality. His essays, articles, and interviews have appeared in numerous anthologies and publications.
Mary Caroline Parker, M.Ed.
Recent Head of School at The Barbara Gordon Montessori School (BGMS) in Colleyville, Texas. She is currently a member of the board of AMI and also served as president of the board of the Montessori Institute of North Texas (MINT), an AMI teacher training center.
