Transcripts

For final admission send an original copy of your undergraduate and graduate transcripts to:

Letters of Recommendation

In addition to your transcripts, we will require two letters of recommendation. These letters attest to your ability to do the academic work, as well as participate in collaborative projects. The person you ask should be willing to write in a meaningful way. This requires more than a few sentences but not usually more than a few paragraphs.

We encourage you to have a current employer submit one of these letters.
We cannot accept recommendations from close relatives.
Please list the names of the two individuals from whom we should expect responses. Please make sure they include telephone contact information.

PART 2 - Writen Responses

 

Write a document of 1,000 words or more addressing items 1-3 below as well as either item 4 or 5, which ever applies to you.
(Note: Please let the Acceptance Committee know if English is your "second" language.)

 

  1. Why do you want a M.Ed. in Montessori Integrative Learning? What attracted you to the Montessori approach?
  2. Each of us holds a world view that we value. How do you respond when your political, religious or social world view is challenged?
  3. Students in the Master’s Program spend the majority of their study time in their home community. Explain how you respond to independently scheduling your academic work. What are the study resources available to you such as libraries, research centers, universities and professionals in the field?

If you are a applying for the Teaching and Learning with Six to Twelve Year Olds program, please respond to Question 4 below as well.

Since there is a requirement for practicing with materials, observing children and 150 hours of practice teaching and research in a Montessori school, how will you satisfy this part of the program?

If you are a applying for the Montessori Emphasis Area for Practitioners, or the Montessori School Leadership program, please respond to Question 5 as well.

Please tell the Admissions Committee the name of your proposed area concentration and what has led you towards a further exploration. Also state some of the questions you would like to investigate. If your Emphasis Area is based on work with children, where will you have an opportunity to observe a classroom setting? If your Emphasis Area is based on work with adults, where will you have an opportunity to observe an adult setting?

If you have chosen Montessori School Leadership, please describe your role or proposed role at a given school. Let the Admission’s Committee know what has lead you to this interest as well at the particular aspects of school leadership and governance that you want to learn about.
