The
Global Alliance for Transforming Education
invites you to
“Proclaim and promote a vision of education that fosters personal greatness, social justice, peace and a sustainable environment.”
History of Global Alliance for Transforming Education (G.A.T.E.)
In 1989 eight individuals gathered to plan a meeting of 80 “holistic” educators that eventually took place in Chicago in 1990. Out of this conference, titled “Creating a Common Vision for Holistic Education,” came the Chicago Statement on Education which was further developed and expanded into the vision statement, EDUCATION 2000: A Holistic Perspective. This document has been translated into Spanish, French, Portuguese, Hungarian, Swedish, Czech, Italian Japanese and Polish.
GATE’s primary function was to promote this vision statement and to link like-minded people around the globe. GATE-Central’s function was guided by Philip Snow Gang.
